1.5 pounds pork belly

1/2 cup Shaoxing wine

3 star anise

1 piece ginger, sliced
2 green onions, sliced
2 cups water

Instructions

1. Cut the pork belly into 2-inch cubes and set aside.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the pork belly and cook until browned on all sides.
3. Add the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, star anise, garlic, ginger, and green onions to the pot. Stir to combine.
4. Add enough water to the pot to cover the pork belly. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until the pork belly is tender.
5. Once the pork belly is tender, remove it from the pot and set it aside. Increase the heat to high and cook the sauce until it thickens and reduces by half.
